天气 App 上那个小图标,扔掉了预报里绝大部分信息。要看的是时间段、概率、雷达趋势、风、露点,还有不确定性有多大。遇到危险天气时,这篇文章和任何商业 App 都只是次要参考:请以你所在地官方发布的预警和指引为准。

降水概率,英文常缩写成 PoP,指的是某个指定地点在某段指定时间内,出现可测量降水的概率。百分之四十不代表这一天有四成时间在下雨。它也没有直接告诉你雨会下多久、下多大,或者预报区域里每个角落都会淋湿。
Forecast: 40% chance of rain, 2 PM–8 PM
It means:
At this point, during this window, measurable rain has

It does not mean:
40% of six hours will be rainy
40% of the city must get rain
rain will use 40% of its possible intensity
天气雷达向大气发射能量,再测量返回来的信号。反射率估计的是目标物的数量和大小,比如雨滴、雪、冰雹、昆虫,甚至空中的碎片。动画比单独一帧有用得多:看移动方向,看回波是在增强还是在消散,看那条带状回波的形状有没有变。
Useful radar reading order
1. Find your location and the image timestamp
2. Animate at least 30–60 minutes
3. Note direction and speed of echoes
4. Look for growth, gaps, splitting, or a solid line
5. Compare with official warnings and observations

Legend, radar mode, distance, and precipitation type matter.
数值天气模式从一份并不完美的大气初始估计出发,在三维网格上套用物理方程,然后一步步往前推时间。不同模式用的网格、方程、资料同化和参数化方案都不一样。某一次运行画出来的十天后暴雪图很吸引人,但那是娱乐,不是能拿来做决定的预报。

我的态度很明确:别到处翻模式运行结果,专挑自己想看的那一张。先看官方发布的本地预报。如果你确实要看原始模式,就比较多次运行,问的问题应该是「大尺度形势稳不稳定」,而不是「那个彩色像素有没有正好压在我家上面」。
集合预报把同一个模式跑很多遍,每一遍都对初始条件、模式物理过程或者两者做一点点改动。如果成员的结果挨得很近,这个特征的可信度就高一些。如果它们散得很开,说明大气正在给出好几种都说得通的未来。平均值有它的用处,但它也可能描述出一个没有任何成员真正预报过的结果。

锋是两个气团之间的过渡带,两边的温度、湿度或密度不一样。冷锋过境常常带来风向转变和一条阵雨或雷雨带,随后是更凉或更干的空气。暖锋常常先让高云变厚,边界前方出现比较连续的降水。真实的锋会弯、会停滞、会减弱,还会跟地形互相影响。

These are patterns, not guarantees.
全国图上一条锋线可能长达几百公里,而你真正的问题是六点钟那场雨会不会落到某一条街上。锋面用来理解大尺度的剧情走向。本地的决定要靠逐小时预报、雷达、实况观测和官方预警。
风向说的是风从哪边来:北风是从北往南吹。持续风是一段规定时长内的平均值,阵风是短暂的峰值。骑车、划船、开塔吊、在树下停车、开厢式货车这些事,真正的限制往往是阵风,哪怕持续风速看起来还挺温和。
Forecast: NW 20 km/h, gusting 45 km/h

45 km/h → brief peak gusts may reach this value
Headwind, crosswind, and shelter depend on your route.
Open water, ridges, gaps, and city corners can amplify wind.
相对湿度说的是空气在当前温度下离饱和还有多远。因为暖空气能容纳更多水汽,所以即使实际水分差不多,温度一变,相对湿度也会跟着变。露点更直接地反映水汽含量,判断空气会不会闷,通常更靠得住。
Same moisture, changing temperature:
Morning: cool air → relative humidity may be 90%
Afternoon: warm air → relative humidity may be 45%
Dew point changes much less.
Rough comfort reading, with acclimation differences:
below 10°C / 50°F dew point → dry
around 16°C / 60°F → noticeable moisture
above 21°C / 70°F → very humid for many people
物体表面冷到露点,就会结露。近地面气温接近露点时,雾就有出现的可能,但风、地形、云和湿层的厚度同样在起作用。光看到湿度百分之九十,并不等于预报有雾。
术语在不同国家、不同灾种下都不一样,所以一定要用你所在地官方机构的定义。在常见的 watch 与 warning 体系里,watch 也就是「注意」,意思是条件支持在更大范围或更长时段内出现危险天气。warning 也就是「警报」,意思是危险正在发生、即将发生或已被探测到,指定区域内必须采取行动。

Tornado Warning in this area until 4:45 PM. Take shelter now. 第一步:立刻按防护指引行动,别先打开雷达图和它辩论。第二步:预警范围、后续更新和避险指引,都以你所在地官方气象机构或应急管理渠道为准。第三步:手上保留一条以上的预警接收途径。第四步:等到官方宣布解除或者预警过期为止。紧急天气永远听官方预警,不听这篇教程,也不听社交媒体上的某个账号。小气候是由海拔、坡向、植被、水体、建筑或暴露程度造成的局地状况。山谷夜里会积攒冷空气,旁边的坡地反而更暖。海边可能吹起海风。城市会把热量留住。山脊上大风,脚下的街道却是静风。

预报会错,是因为观测不完整、模式简化了现实,而且微小的误差会不断放大。局地对流、雾、雪带和地形尤其敏感。一个预报可以把大尺度形势报得很准,却算不出某一个雷暴到底会不会生成、零度线落在你家哪一侧,或者锋面提早还是推迟两小时到。

3. Compare current observations with forecast assumptions
4. Animate radar or satellite; check data timestamp
5. Read official forecast discussion and alerts
6. Reassess the decision threshold and backup plan

真正好用的习惯,是让准备程度匹配后果的严重性。只是出门散步,带件轻便雨衣就够了。要坐飞机、要走可能积水的路线、要出海、要面对山火撤离或强对流天气,就得用专业和官方的信息,并且准备一个备选方案。目标不是让预报变得确定,而是让你的决定在预报不确定的时候依然站得住。
